4:53Now PlayingA new report from The New York Times this week revealed that Donald Trump reached out to lawmakers in Michigan to see if they could get local cops to go and confiscate voting machines throughout the state. Luckily, the state declined his request, but these stories are quickly adding up and showing us just how close this country came to having Trump become a dictator. Farron Cousins discusses this.

For the last week, every couple of days, it seems like we have gotten new reports about Donald Trump's attempts to overthrow the results of the 2020 election folks. Not just overturn, but actually overthrow them. I think that's the point we're at right now. And according to a report from the, uh, New York times earlier this week, Donald Trump personally reached out to Michigan lawmakers to ask them to have local police in the state of Michigan, go around and confiscate the voting machines. Now, earlier in the week, I had talked about the fact that Donald Trump had Rudy Giuliani call the department of Homeland security. See if they would go around and seize the voting machines. And of course that called Homeland security came after the DOJ refused to go around and confiscate the voting machines. And after the Pentagon refused to go around and confiscate the voting machines.
But in early December, it appears that Donald Trump was already trying to make this happen, trying to have, uh, uh, local law enforcement in Michigan, go around to confiscate the voting machines. And there's no question about what he wanted to do here. They wanted to confiscate the voting machines. They were gonna say that there was some kind of massive interference of China and Venezuela, because that is what Michael andele actually laid out in a meeting with Republican lawmakers about seizing the voting machines. So they were gonna claim massive fraud, election interference from foreign countries. They were gonna throw away all those votes. Suddenly all the Biden votes disappear, Donald Trump, the election. That's what I, I mean, when I say overthrow the election, this isn't about overturning. It. It is about actually illegitimately overthrowing it because Donald Trump wanted to continue to play president and basically become a dictator here in the United States with no way to remove him.
Do you think for a second that Donald Trump would leave office if he were to run and win again in 2024, and then at the end of those four years, he's term limited, right? He can't stay in office at all. Do you think that would stop him losing an election? Didn't stop him. He exhausted all available Reese sources to try to get ahold of the voting machines, to try to overturn it admitted this past week that he wanted Mike Pence to throw out the electoral college votes. The Republicans had all these plans nationwide to send in these fake electors. And you, you, you, you really think that Donald Trump would voluntarily walk outta the wide house house after another four years because he served eight. No hell no. They would do whatever it takes to make this man president
For life because that's what he wants. He wants that power. He wants that title. That is why he admires people like Vladimir Putin, who is also president for life. That is what Donald Trump wants. And I guarantee you, they would stop at nothing to undo that amendment to our constitution that put term limits on the president of the United States. They would absolutely try to find a way to keep him in office forever. And that's the terrifying thing. We know that constitutionally, he can't do that, but two years ago, it would've seemed completely out of the realm of possibility for a sitting president to make calls to lawmakers, to tell them to snatch up the voting machines right. Two years ago, nobody would've dreamt of that. And now here we are in a week where we're getting new reports about that almost every single day about these efforts to overthrow the election. This man is a threat to the United States. He is a danger to the United States and I am still in awe over the fact that Donald Trump might be the reason American democracy, as we know it come us to an end. It's a pretty sad end for a once. Great country. If you ask me.
