While it is still WAY too early for 2024 presidential polling, the trends that are emerging from these polls are anything but optimistic for Democrats. According to the latest poll, Donald Trump has now taken a solid lead against Biden (and Harris) in a head-to-head matchup, beating the incumbent by 6 points. The trends are important, because less than two months ago that advantage was reversed. Farron Cousins explains what's happening and why we need to be paying close attention.

Let me start by saying, I totally understand that it's a little too early, right? To be talking about presidential polling for 2024. Heck we're still nine months away. Eight ish months, I guess, from the midterm. So yeah, it's a little early. However, the trends that we are currently seeing in presidential polling should be terrifying, not just to Democrats, but to anybody who thinks America should remain a country because Donald Trump now has what is considered a very big lead over Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup in the latest 2024 polling Donald Trump would. Now according to the newest poll pull in 47% of the vote to Joe Biden's 41, giving him a six point advantage in a head-to-head hypothetical matchup for 2024. As of right now, the end of March, 2022, plenty of time to write the ship. And of course those polls are going to change, but it's the change that worries me because two weeks ago, I did a segment talking about the fact that in the latest polling, the two were tied two weeks later, Donald Trump is a six point lead, but two weeks ago, when I mentioned the fact that they were tied, I also talked about the fact that three weeks ago, prior to the two weeks ago.

So five weeks ago, Biden had a six point lead. So in under two months, that is a 12 point shift in favor of Donald Trump. And if you think that Joe Biden saying that he's not gonna run in an instead vice president, Kamala Harris is gonna be the nominee. Well then things get even worse because Donald Trump pulls 49% to Harris' 38% in head-to-head matchups, according to this latest poll. So this is bad. This is a Harvard Harris poll, by the way, sore, reliable. Sure. But again, it's a single poll, so don't focus too much on the poll instead, focus on the trend and the trend is going up for Trump and down for Biden. So the question is, how does he write the ship? Well, we know right now he's out there talking about a wealth tax that is actually a hugely popular policy supported by majorities of Democrats, independents and Republicans.

So that's one way to do it. I think an easier way to do it would be to forgive student loan debt, you know, put more money back in the pockets of the voters. That's all way is going to be a good thing. And it's going to help your polls do something about inflation. Now there's not a whole hell of a lot that the president can in fact do about it. So we're not asking him to wave a magic wand and get rid of inflation, but he has to figure something out. And of course that excess wealth tax is in fact, meant to address that coupled with, of course, Bernie Sanders, uh, 95% marginal tax increase for the wealthiest companies in this country to avoid price gouging. So all of that taken together would help also address inflation cuz it would address, excuse me, good grief.

Uh, it would address corporate price gouging. And of course we can raise interest rates and all that, you know, hugely technical economic stuff that of course is most likely going to happen anyway. And that could help with inflation to a degree. But the biggest thing is obviously put money in the pockets of the people, give people something tangible and that will boost your poll numbers. But I understand, of course Biden's lagging polls, right? I'm right there with everybody. I'm not happy with most of what we've seen from this administration. My question is why are Trump's numbers going up? Right. That's what's weird to me if they were both falling. Totally understandable. Right? Why is Trump going up? What's happened in the last two months since that poll were Biden was beating him by six, is that we've learned from different individuals involved in investigations that yeah, he committed crimes.

According to those people, we're finding out more and more horrible information about the guy every couple of days. So why are his numbers going up? That's still a mystery to me and hopefully will, will get a real concrete answer to that because it can't just be well because we don't like Biden. That's not good enough.
