Fox Host Slams Rick Scott For Lying About His Own Agenda

Republican Senator Rick Scott is still in hot water over his "agenda" that he released last month that calls for raising taxes on low income Americans, and he just keeps digging that hole deeper. On Sunday, Scott appeared on Fox News to try to lie his way out of the mess, but host John Roberts wasn't having it and called him for his lies to his face. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Republican Senator Rick Scott from the state of Florida, decided to go on Fox news on Sunday to, you know, continue to do damage control about his idiotic agenda that he put out late last month. And unfortunately for Rick Scott, it did not go well at all. Even among the friendly audience that he thought he was going to have on Fox news, he still got called out for his idiotic plan. And then when he tried to lie about it, got called out for lying about it on the air he was on with Fox news host John Roberts. So let me read you the exchange of what happened there. Roberts asked him, uh, why would you propose something like that in an election year? And of course, he's talking about the fact that it would sunset programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and social security and raise taxes on low income Americans.

I would you propose something like that in election year, Rick Scott replied. He said that's of course the, the Democrat talking points and Roberts interrupted. No, no, that's in the plan. That's that's actually what he said. He said, no, no, it's in the plan. And he did it very excited. So Rick Scott tried to lie about his own plan by saying that those are Democrat talking points and a Fox news host, John Roberts had to point out like, no, it's literally in your plan right here. Okay. We can see it. It's there. It exists. Which of course is not something Republicans are used to, especially not on Fox news. But again, I think the biggest irony of all of this, and this is of course what led to the exchange is the fact that Mitch McConnell basically is enjoying a very good, I told you so moment here, Mitch McConnell, as we all know, had originally told Rick, you're not gonna do a plan.

Okay. We have a plan. And the plan is to have no plan because running on no plan right now with a weakened democratic party is better than running on all of our horrible ideas. Rick Scott said, ah, but I know better after only spending, you know, about 10 years in politics versus your 38, you years in politics, I'm smarter. And the Republican party has of course taken a massive hit. Ever since Rick Scott decided he was smarter and they played a clip of McConnell to start off that, uh, segment talking about the fact that yeah, none of this is going to become a reality where are not gonna, you know, as long as I'm in charge, we're not bringing anything to the floor that does any of these things in the plan. And Rick Scott is sitting there looking like an idiot, knowing that he put these things in there and still literally lying about it, even though anybody can look them up.

And of course John Roberts did and point out like, well, here it is buddy. You can't lie your way out of everything in life, Rick Scott. And that's a very tough lesson for you to learn because based on what I've seen, it appears that what that's, what you've been doing for decades. Now, coming up with a horrible idea, then lying about your involvement in it. I mean, after all, isn't that why you had to plead the fifth amendment 75 times to avoid going to prison for the fraud against the government, that the company you were founding, you founded, excuse me, uh, committed against the government, right? Hmm. But see, here on Fox news, you didn't get to plead the fifth amendment. You didn't get to avoid that self-incrimination so you had to lie about it and it didn't go well for you. Yes. Rick Scott's plan would raise taxes on the income Americans.

Yes. It would sunset basically set an end date for social security, Medicaid and Medicare. It would screw over millions upon millions upon millions of Americans, because that is what Rick Scott wants to do. And to his credit, Mitch McConnell and evil bastard, but smart knew that this was going to be a problem for Republicans. And now Rick Scott is trying to lie his way out of it and pretend that none of this ever happened, no, you did this. You went against your ship, you put out the agenda. So you get to deal with the consequences.
