Members of the Republican Party are finally starting to panic as they realize that there is virtually nothing they can do to stop Donald Trump from becoming their nominee in 2024. They are now scrambling to come up with scenarios where Trump could lose next year's primary, but the only thing that could blunt that would be a criminal conviction - and by the time the first criminal trial ends, he could already have enough votes to have clinched the nomination. Farron Cousins explains why Republicans are finally grappling with their sad reality.

Republican insiders are finally starting to panic. Like just now, December 11th, they're panicking over the fact that Donald Trump is apparently unstoppable in the Republican primary. I, I know that's a shock. Like before, literally right this moment, everybody always thought that Trump was gonna lose the primary apparently. But no, these Republican insiders, including current and former lawmakers, are starting to sound the alarms because now, now the reality has set in that they are totally screwed. Let's start with Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney had this to say, if virtually all the GOP governors and senators were to say they would not support Trump, even in the general, I don't think his poll numbers would be harmed at all. They might even get better. I, I think the maga base dislikes our elected elites as much or more than they, the Democrats. You have Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, who's a little more optimistic.

Sununu thinks there's a way Sununu had this to say. I, I think when these dominoes start to go, that that's why I'm still very much a believer that Trump very well could lose New Hampshire because they do see how the, the dominoes go, and when they go, they go fast. Okay? There's literally no New Hampshire polling that shows that Donald Trump is in danger, Chris. So I, I know it's your state, you know it a lot better than I do. I've never even been to New Hampshire. Um, but I, I don't know why you sound optimistic about him losing your state. Do you not know that polling exists? Because it does, and it says that Trump's gonna win that state. Then of course, you have Utah governor, Spencer Cox, another Republican who says there does seem to be a consolidation happening more naturally than even before. It's kind of a two person race for the second spot.

So Spencer Cox is basically saying like, everybody kind of coalesced around Trump, you know, just naturally. Yeah, and I'll tell you why in just a minute. But let's get onto the next one. Chris Christie, right? Biggest Trump hater in the country? Are we really going to bring this race down and out before super Tuesday when the guy goes on trial? That's why I'm sitting here saying I'm in through the convention. I'm, it's not that I'm delusional, it's that nobody else is paying attention to what's really happening. Eh, I'm gonna argue with that. You on that one. Like, even if Chris, even if Trump does not become the nominee, you are also still not gonna be the nominee. Um, if Trump dropped outta the race right now and was like, ah, I don't feel like doing it. You still wouldn't be the guy. So, you know, I mean, I, I salute your optimism, but it's definitely misplaced. Then you have former Virginia, uh, Virginia Congresswoman, Barbara Comstock, who says, just like in 16, all these guys came around too late. Like this should have been done six months ago.

You didn't know Trump was a threat. You didn't know he was leading Kudos to Barbara Comstock for actually understanding that. Like you, you guys are, you guys are just now panicking. Like you didn't you, you didn't see this coming. Like, have you been living in a cave completely cut off from all forms of communication because Trump's got it on lockdown. So why are all these people coming out now, right? Like, why suddenly today instead of a month ago, two months, six months, whatever it is, y'all saw Trump as always at the top. Here's the reason. According to the math, Donald Trump will not even have the opportunity to be convicted in the first criminal trial that he faces next year, which of course is the one with Judge Tanya Chut. So it's the, the biggest one really, uh, aside from Georgia, I think Georgia is actually bigger.

But anyway, um, he can't even be convicted for that. That trial will not conclude until after enough states have already voted in the Republican primary for Trump to clench the nomination.
