But the very richest of the tech billionaires continue to dominate the highest ranks of the list. Nine of the 20 wealthiest people in the world are tech tycoons—one more than on the 2019 list. In all, there are 241 technology billionaires on Forbes’ 2020 billionaires list, up from 215 last year. Combined, they are worth a whopping $1.4 trillion — 16% of the total net worth for all 2,095 billionaires on the list this year.
The Forbes World’s Billionaires list is a snapshot of wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 18, 2020. Some people become richer or poorer within days of publication. We value a variety of assets, including private companies, real estate, art and more. We don’t pretend to know each billionaire’s private balance sheet (though some provide it).
