as posted by the channelOn July 18th, 2014, Dan Markel, a 41-year-old Florida State University law professor and Harvard grad, was shot execution-style in the head twice in his Tallahassee garage by hitmen, dying the next day. The m*rder stemmed from a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife, Wendi Adelson (divorced 2013), who wanted to relocate their two young sons from Tallahassee to South Florida near her wealthy family. Prosecutors allege the Adelson family—frustrated by court rulings blocking the move—orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot to eliminate Markel as an obstacle. Evidence included wiretaps, texts with coded language (e.g., "Harvey's birthday gift" for the hit), financial trails from the family dental practice, and testimony from cooperators. After over a decade of investigation, five people have been convicted as of September 4, 2025, the latest being the conviction of 75-year-old Donna Adelson.
