He is charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes (The Gilgo Four), Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack. These seven cases were set to be tried together in one trial this year. He was arrested on July 13, 2023 in Midtown Manhattan, where he was working as an architectural consultant and has been in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead, New York since his arrest.
