Josh Hawley has issued stark warnings that Trump's working class support is at serious risk, telling Semaphore that voters aren't in this for party loyalty but to improve their lives, and the president isn't delivering. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins claims eggs are down and relief is coming in a "golden age just around the corner," contradictions that ring hollow as prices remain high and inflation persists.
The honeymoon period has ended according to Axios, with elected Republicans now emboldened to defy Trump and push back on his administration. Only Clay Higgins voted against the Epstein files discharge petition, while other Republicans refused to protect Jeffrey Epstein and Trump from accountability. Democrats swept every race in recent elections including Prop 50 in California, governors races in New Jersey and Virginia, and Zoran Mamoian's double digit mayoral victory in New York City. Trump campaigned on bringing down prices, ending wars in Gaza and Ukraine, and lowering grocery and gas costs on day one, promises no president could keep.
The 77 million who voted for racism, bigotry, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia and ableism now face the consequences as layoffs this year are projected to surpass the Great Recession and approach Great Depression levels. ICE raids, mass deportations, and attacks on the LGBTQ community and trans kids are the agenda voters endorsed, and now economic reality has arrived.
