This didn't automatically mean the country hád to take part in the German invasion of the USSR. Yet, Hungary did take part in Operation Barbarossa. Why did the Royal Hungarian Army (Magyar Királyi Honvédség) cross the border into the Soviet Union. Actually, it wasn't the first act of military aggression. After the German invasion of Yugoslavia the Hungarian troops also marched in and took some territories. The bombing of Kassa was the direct cause for Hungary to invade the Soviet Union.
