Zionism, the movement advocating for a Jewish homeland in Palestine, and Fascism, particularly as embodied in Mussolini's Italy and later Nazi Germany, were ideologically incompatible. Yet, specific instances of limited cooperation emerged, primarily driven by mutual interests rather than shared beliefs.
In Italy, some Zionist leaders viewed Mussolini’s early Fascism as a possible ally against British colonial policy in Palestine. Mussolini, in turn, saw the Zionist project as a way to expand Italian influence in the Middle East and counter British dominance. The Revisionist Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky, who admired aspects of European nationalism, briefly engaged with Italian officials in the 1920s, though no formal alliance materialized.
