Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has launched his Canadian Sovereignty Act, vowing to take on rising U.S. tariffs and what he calls Prime Minister Mark Carney’s “failed leadership” on trade. The plan would fast-track major pipelines, greenlight a large LNG project, and scrap key federal regulations including the carbon tax, EV mandate, and plastics ban. Poilievre set a target of March 2026 to have two pipelines, LNG facilities, and new infrastructure underway. He accused Carney of “bending over backwards” to appease President Trump, promising instead to defend Canadian industries from lumber to autos, and safeguard Canadian technology from foreign control.
