'He Poured Millions Of Dollars Into...': Elizabeth Warren Demands Release Of Epstein Bank Files

US News: During a Senate Banking Committee markup on Thursday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) introduced an amendment that would require federal banking regulators to release confidential examination records tied to Jeffrey Epstein and his associates. Warren argued that major Wall Street banks profited from Epstein for years despite multiple warning signs surrounding his criminal conduct.

“Jeffrey Epstein was an early backer of crypto,” Warren said, claiming Epstein recognized digital assets “as a tool to covertly facilitate illicit payments.” She accused major financial institutions including JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank, and Bank of America of continuing to do business with Epstein long after his 2008 conviction.

Warren also blasted regulators for allegedly failing to investigate the banks involved. “What did the banks know and when did they know it?” she asked during the fiery markup session. Her amendment sought to shine light on whether regulators uncovered evidence tied to Epstein’s transactions, including payments involving Russian banks and young women.

The Massachusetts Democrat argued that transparency could help prevent future abuse, warning that “some sunlight might help prevent Wall Street and crypto companies from funding the next Jeffrey Epstein.”

Republicans pushed back on the amendment, with lawmakers arguing that the Epstein records were unrelated to the digital asset legislation under consideration. The amendment ultimately failed in committee after a party-line vote.
