In this episode of The IKhanic Show I go over the GameStop (GME), Blackberry (BB), AMC, Naked (NAKD) scandal that has shaken up the stock market.

To understand the situation, you need to understand shorts and a short squeeze. Basically, Short is when you make money on a stock on its way down. You do this by borrowing stocks and selling them to people who are willing to pay more for it. Then you buy stocks when the price gets lower and return them to the broker you borrowed from. The difference in price is your profit.

A short squeeze is when a heavily shorted stock continuously increases in prices. This forces short sellers to take a loss and close their position. To close their position, they have to buy more stocks, which causes the stock price to go even higher. As the stock price goes higher, more buyers enter due to speculation and more short sellers close their position. This creates a loop that makes the price go extremely high.

This short squeeze is whats going on with all of the meme stonks. They were heavily shorted, and a subreddit named r/WallStreetBets noticed this and started buying the left over stock float. They figured that the huge hedgefunds that heavily shorted would be forced to buy from them. This is exactly what happened.
