Nevertheless, President Trump continues to claim that Iran is in a "state of collapse," that the blockade is "genius" and "100% foolproof," and that "militarily we've wiped them out," while contradicting himself by refusing to open the strait and failing to answer why US troops aren't simply "going in to take the place over."
Jimmy points out that Iranian officials have stated the opposite position: that the US must lift the blockade first, Iran is not in collapse, and time is working in their favor—while oil prices have climbed to $111 per barrel as talks remain deadlocked. The report also notes that Trump is consulting with Iran war hawks like Lindsey Graham and Jack Keane who want him to restart the bombing campaign, with an adviser saying Trump recently claimed "all Iran's leaders understand is bombs" and that Israel is "awaiting a green light from the US to kill the rest of the Khamenei family."
