They point out that the dinner is not a government function and would not be held at the White House anyway, and that Trump had never attended before—making his first attendance the night of a fake assassination attempt highly suspicious.

Oliver calls the $400 million ballroom a "white elephant" and notes that a judge had already "put the brakes on it," yet within minutes of the shooting, a coordinated message from the White House to conservative social media influencers demanded the ballroom be built.
