0:58Now PlayingMeet Tirpitz, the incredible pig mascot of WW1! 🐷 After the SMS Dresden was scuttled in 1915, this pig swam to HMS Glasgow, was rescued, and named after a German admiral. Awarded an Iron Cross for loyalty, Tirpitz lived a charmed life: on board Glasgow, then a wallaby paddock! She was even auctioned for 400 guineas for the British Red Cross. After her death in 1919, her head was mounted and trotters made into silver carvings for the Imperial War Museum.
