43:01Now PlayingIn January 2020, 11-year-old Gannon Stauch vanished from his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, sparking a massive community search effort. His stepmother, Letecia Stauch, initially reported him as a runaway, but investigators quickly became suspicious when neighbor surveillance footage showed Gannon stumbling into her truck on the morning of his disappearance and never being seen alive again. As detectives uncovered significant amounts of blood in Gannon's bedroom and Letecia told increasingly bizarre and contradictory stories, including claims of an intruder named Eduardo and fugitive Quincy Brown, the case took a dark turn. Months later, Gannon's remains were discovered in a suitcase near a bridge in Pace, Florida. The autopsy revealed the horrific truth: the young boy had been stabbed multiple times, struck with a blunt object, and shot in the jaw. Letecia was arrested and extradited back to Colorado, where she dramatically attacked a deputy during transport and later pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial revealed the calculated nature of her crime as prosecutors presented evidence of her deliberate actions and attempts to cover up the murder. In May 2023, a jury rejected her insanity defense and convicted her of first-degree murder. Judge Gregory Werner sentenced Letecia Stauch to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal killing of her stepson.
