YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAt yesterday's hearing, Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively battled it out over something obscure -- a protective order. But the real stakes were something else entirely.
Co-stars Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively are embroiled in a high-profile Hollywood legal battle. Baldoni claims that Lively defamed him.
Lively starred in It Ends With Us, where Baldoni not only played the male lead but also served as director. Despite the film’s huge success—grossing $351 million worldwide on a $25 million budget—tensions were high behind the scenes. During a break in filming, Lively demanded certain changes, including that she not be shown explicit images of women or hear about Baldoni’s past struggles with viewing inappropriate photos. She threatened to walk off set unless her conditions were met.
Instead of deescalating after filming ended, the situation intensified, as Baldoni was notably absent from several promotional events. In December 2024, Lively filed a claim for harassment. A month later, she sued Baldoni and others on his team. Baldoni responded with a counterclaim, asserting that her allegations were false and fueled by her frustration over not being allowed to take control of the production. Both sides accuse the other of a smear campaign. Baldoni has countersued Lively and members of her team, and also has sued the New York Times.
The two lawsuits are now consolidated in federal court.
