Shelagh Fogarty says everybody needs to be better equipped to stamp out predatory and coercive behaviour as soon as it happens.

The LBC presenter was speaking in the wake of the conviction of Kyle Clifford, who had raped his ex-partner, before murdering her, her sister, and her mother.

"He even got the armoury of a stalker. [He] went and got a crossbow, for God's sake," Shelagh said.

"The Hunt family, and Louise in particular, didn't have time to see it coming."

Ms Fogarty added it was everyone's duty to watch language and behaviours that minimise the "violence of men".

"The very fact that minutes after that case was finished, we were hearing terms like, 'jilted lover, spurned lover, dented pride' — it worries me," Shelagh said.

"We have to stop [minimising] through the language we use and the assumptions that we make."

"We have to stop minimising the violence of men and the dangerous strangeness of some men when their relationships come to an end."
