12:09Now PlayingAttorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down Trump's pick to replace Kristi Noem at DHS: Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma — a former MMA fighter, plumbing company owner, and college dropout who is the only sitting U.S. senator to have tried to start a fist fight during a congressional hearing. In November 2023, Mullin challenged Teamsters president Sean O'Brien to fight on the Senate floor, stood up from the dais, started removing his wedding ring, and had to be gaveled down by Bernie Sanders shouting "You are a United States senator." His immigration positions are as hardline as Noem's — border wall, aggressive deportations, ending sanctuary cities, expanding ICE. He defended the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, said the officer "didn't have an option," and told CNBC everyone should carry proof of citizenship in case they're stopped. He faced a House ethics investigation for promoting his plumbing company while in Congress, received up to $1.8 million in forgiven PPP loans while opposing student loan forgiveness, barricaded doors during January 6th but supports pardons for the participants, and recently described the smell of war despite never having served in the military. The hosts argue he's walking into the same sacrificial lamb role — and predict it'll end the same way.
