Lubit have been charged with conspiracy and damaging religious property near the site of 2018's deadly Tree of Life synagogue shooting. Hamad, a Pennsylvania Air National Guard member who self-identified as a "Hamas operative" and was found to have discussed building explosive devices, allegedly partnered with Lubit to vandalize Jewish institutions with pro-Hamas symbols and messages following Hamas's October 2023 attack on Israel. Their actions, which included spray-painting "Jews 4 Palestine" and "[Jewish Federation] funds genocide" on religious buildings, prompted U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan to emphasize that "defacing religious property is not protected speech—it is a crime." The investigation revealed disturbing messages between the pair, with Hamad expressing desires for martyrdom while Lubit wrote that she "can literally feel myself starting to see Jews as my enemies." If convicted, both defendants face up to two years in prison and potential fines of $200,000.
