Actor and activist BD Wong jumped into creator TheRealTarzan’s “wrong answers only” post, and wrote a comment comparing a Black man to an animal. Screenshots spread instantly. Wong apologized, calling it “super dumb” and “deeply hurtful,” but the damage was already done.
Marc explains why these “jokes” are never harmless, especially coming from someone inside another marginalized community. Anti-Blackness doesn’t disappear because the speaker is queer, Asian, progressive, or well-liked. The history is real: comparing Black people to animals justified violence, exclusion, and exploitation for generations.
