33:55Now PlayingGovernor Mark Dayton announced Wednesday, August 21, that he is calling a special session for Monday, September 9, 10:00 a.m., to provide financial relief to Southeastern counties recovering from Spring storms. The Legislature will appropriate nearly $5 million dollars, which will secure federal support as well.
Earlier in the day, legislative leaders met with the Dayton to reach an agreement on special session action. The possible repeal of business taxes enacted during the 2013 session were excluded from the agenda. Earlier, Governor Mark Dayton expressed interest in repealing the sales tax on machinery repairs; however, GOP legislators argued for additional business tax relief.
Following Governor Dayton's press conference, GOP leaders meet with the media to explain their views on limiting the agenda to disaster relief.
