7:50Now PlayingIn 2005 Congress enacted the REAL ID Act, which requires states to comply with federal standards when issuing sources of identification, such as a driver's license. The issue came to the forefront recently when Minnesotans learned that their driver's license may not allow them to board a plane in the future. In Minnesota, standard driver's licenses do not meet the federal standards, but enhanced licenses, which cost an additional $15 dollars, do comply.
Adopting the federal identification requirements will be at the forefront of 2016 legislative issues. Senator Warren Limmer, R-Maple Grove, urges policymakers to proceed with caution. He sits down with Shannon Loehrke to underscore his concerns.
