0:55Now PlayingGovernor Mark Dayton released his tax plan Thursday, January 5, that, according to administration officials, would reduce taxes by $300 million dollars for about 450,000 Minnesotans.
Under his measure, working family tax credit would be expanded to lower state income taxes on low and middle income households. Also, child care tax credit would be expanded to assist more families with child care needs.
Governor Dayton also proposes lowering agricultural property taxes to aid farmers, reforming farmland estate taxes and providing payments to landowners to help establish land buffers to protect Minnesota's streams, rivers and lakes.
Dayton's plan also increases aids to local cities in counties in an effort to hold down property taxes.
According to reported reactions, key Republican legislators consider Dayton's plan short of their intended goals.
