19:41Now PlayingOn a unanimous vote, the Senate passed a bill making changes to the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which manages the newly opened US Bank Stadium. The legislation is in response to a special review by the Office of the Legislative Auditor regarding the free use of luxury suites by friends and family of the Chair and the Executive Director of the Authority.
Specifically, the bill, HF 778, sponsored by Senator Julie Rosen, R-Vernon Center, prohibits stadium space from being used by the Chair, Executive Director and staff of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and their family and friends unless for legitimate business. Furthermore, the legitimate business purpose must be made public and supported by the Authority at a public meeting. The Authority must issue an annual report regarding the use of the stadium space.
The Chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority will no longer be appointed by the Governor, but will be elected by members of the Authority. Furthermore, the legislation sets the maximum salary for the Chair and Executive Director.
