1:53:29Now PlayingA recent Minnesota Department of Health report found that a patient undergoing certain hospital procedures may pay as much as two to seven times more than another patient at the very same hospital. Since 2017, the Minnesota Senate, both through the work of a select committee and standing policy committees, has been looking at ways to lower the cost of health care through improved practices and awareness of health care pricing.
To that end, the Senate Human Services Finance and Policy Committee dedicated a hearing Wednesday, September 26, to reviewing the variations in pricing charged by hospitals, the transparency in health care services and the elimination of low value services.
