13:56Now PlayingChildren under the age of 14 would be able to operate their lemonade stands without securing a permit, under a bill presented at a State Capitol news conference Thursday, January 31.
According to bill sponsor Senator Roger Chamberlain, R-Lino Lakes, the bill would help avoid complaints being levied against the kids to local police, as occurred to a 13-year old Minneapolis boy, who was operating a hot dog stand. According to Chamberlain, the police paid for the boy's permit.
"If I was selling popsicles...making 25 cents on each, I would have to sell 200 popsicles just to break even for the license fee," said 13-year old Michael Kysylyczyn. I support this new exemption for the law, because I support young entrepreneurs who want to expand their education," he added.
