1:28:43Now PlayingFamily members of residents in Minnesota's nursing homes and care facilities would be able to remotely monitor the health and care of their family members, under a bill approved by the Senate Family Care and Aging Committee Wednesday, February 6. The measure, sponsored by Senator Karin Housley, R-St. Marys Point, and Senator Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, allows use of so-called "Granny Cams."
"When you see your mother, and you can protect her, you are doing something extraordinarily valuable, and you are doing something that no nursing home or assisted living can provide at the present time," said Richard Breitman, whose mother is in a care facility.
The committee approved the bill, SF 11, and forward it to the Health and Human Services Committee.
