11:56Now PlayingMinnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm appeared before the Senate Health and Human Services Committee Tuesday, February 18, to update legislators on the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and Influenza.
According to Malcolm, twenty-five countries have reported a total of 72,000 cases of Coronavirus and 1,775 deaths. The vast majority stem from China. In the United States, 15 cases have been confirmed, none in Minnesota.
"It's very helpful to others and to yourself to stay home when you are sick, always cover your cough and wash your hands really well, and we mean really, really well," Malcolm said. COVID-19, commonly reported as the Coronavirus, is spread as other respiratory viruses.
