11:23Now PlayingA bill that would make daylight saving time permanent throughout the year won the approval of the Senate Local Government Committee Tuesday, February 25. Sponsored by Senator Mary Kiffmeyer, R - Big Lake, the time change would be dependent upon Congressional action on a bill allowing states to choose the option.
In explaining the reason for a permanent time frame, Kiffmeyer said, "My effort has been in recognizing those public health and public safety issues that are well documented. How can we stop the flip?" Kiffmeyer said. The committee approved the bill and sent it to the Senate Floor for final consideration.
