20:13Now PlayingNeel Kashkari, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, demonstrated deft diplomacy as he offered his economic expertise to the Senate Finance Committee Tuesday, February 2. He appeared before the panel to provide an overview of the current economic conditions in Minnesota and the country, which quickly turned to a robust discussion with committee members over federal stimulus checks, unemployment, education policy and the anticipated economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kashkari cautioned members that the virus is still in charge of the economy, and that the state and the nation remain a long way from recovery. “We just need as many Americans and as many Minnesotans as possible to be vaccinated so that we can have confidence, and we can restore much of the economy back to the way it was,” he said.
