23:40Now PlayingGovernor Tim Walz announced Monday, June 28, a series of executive actions to address public safety and policy reform. The initiatives include providing $15 million in grants to curb community violence, increasing transparency and accountability of the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board and expanding access to state video footage of deadly force encounters.
According to the administration, the Governor directed his administration to identify data the POST Board collects and to provide access to the public. Further, Governor Walz directed state law enforcement agencies to develop a policy that will allow families who lost a member to a deadly force encounter with law enforcement to view video of the incident.
