38:03Now PlayingSenator Michelle Benson, R-Ham Lake, convened the Senate Friday, July 2, and announced that the Senate will be remaining in special session to review gubernatorial appointments.
"We are in a period of transition, having just ended emergency powers, and the governor still has some open appointments...so we are going to remain vigilant and attentive to the governor's appointments," said Benson.
"Obviously there must be another motive here, which is to fire some of the governor's commissioners," said Senator Sandy Pappas, DFL-St. Paul, when questioning the need to remain in special session.
Senate Minority Leader Susan Kent's motion to adjourn the special session sine die failed on a 29-35 vote.
