Question: I am a banker by profession and am planning to buy a home since a long time. With rates going down, I am planning to buy it within 2 months’ time. With sisters marriage in house this year itself, the funds I have are very less. I earn Rs. 26,000 and own funds worth Rs 5 lakh; I could either get her married or buy a home. Fearing that the rates might increase later, what would you advise?
Answer: I would strongly suggest you to not buy a house now; You can’t afford to commit to two big things at the same time, it will surely take your breath away. As you have already waited for a long time, I see no harm in waiting a bit longer till you get your sister married. Once done, you can plan in a better way to buy a home with the remaining funds.
