Q: I have a 4BHK flat which is my first property. My wife is a home maker and I will be paying the EMIs. Should I jointly register it with my wife or in my name alone? Also should I take the home loan alone or include my wife’s name as well?
A: You can hold the property in your name with your wife as a nominee. Whether you both hold it together makes no sense as far as income tax implications/benefits are concerned as your wife is not working. But if you make her a co-owner, then she will be protected in case something were happen to you.
