The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has taken over the probe into the death of a woman convict who was lodged in the Byculla prison here, said a senior police official. The Commissioner of Mumbai Police has issued an order, as per which the crime branch will investigate the death of convict Manju Shette, the official said. The police had earlier suspended six jail staffers and booked them on the charge of murder. Manju (45) died at the government-run J Hospital on Friday night after allegedly being beaten up by a woman official of the jail on June 23. To discuss this, MIRROR NOW caught up with Neelam Gorhe: Leader, Shiv Sena; Kanta Nalawde: Spokesperson, Maharashtra BJP; Yamini Abde: Activist; Swapnil Kothari: Managing Partner, S Kothari & Co.; Vikram Singh: Former DGP, Uttar Pradesh; Abha Singh: Advocate & Activist; Amit Khemka: Advocate; Raja Bagga: Project Officer in the Prison Reforms Program, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative.
