3:13Now Playing53-year-old Jeyaraj and his 31-year-old son Benicia died at the hospital after being picked up by Sathankulam police on 19th June claiming that they had refused to shut shop after lockdown timings and picked a quarrel with the cops. According to Police, Benicks was taken to hospital on Monday after complaining of discomfort and later died that night while his father died on Tuesday morning after being taken to the hospital. Two sub-inspectors from Sathankulam Police station were suspended and the inspector of the station had been put on the waiting list.
Family of this father and son who was allegedly killed in police custody refuse to accept their bodies. The claim that an FIR needs to be filed and mere suspension of 2 policemen is not enough. They also alleged that the father and son were brutally tortured which had led to them bleed from their rectum. State Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced 20 lakhs compensation and also offered a government job to a member in the family but Jeyaraj’s daughter has refused it demanding justice.
