The police brutality thrashed the family for selling fruits on a pushcart beyond the lockdown hours. The police allegedly abused and snatched away the vendor's phone and when the son tried to question the police, they took away his bike keys and brutally thrashed him with sticks. The family was then taken to a police station where they were allowed to let go after providing a letter of apology. The case has similarities with Jayaraj and Bennix case where the two were beaten up brutally and died in custody. There have been various cases of police brutality noticed in Tamil Nadu.
