3:29Now PlayingPeople across Mumbai are claiming that they have received inflated electricity bills from the authorities through the lockdown period. Shocked residents have demanded answers on the high costs as Bollywood actors and TV celebrities join the stir on social media. This includes actor Neha Dhupia, Taapse Pannu and comedian Vir Das among others. Mirror Now had earlier reported similar claims of residents across the city facing the same issue. The officials have responded to the allegations stating that meter readings were suspended amid the COVID-19 lockdown, thus the bills have been sent as per the average usage of the household in the months of December, January and February. It has also been brought to notice that consumption was higher during the lockdown due to the summer months and confinement to homes.
