On Saturday, Chennai 1,185 COVID19 positive cases, the lowest since June, thanks to the total lockdown from 19th July to 5th July. But shockingly, the numbers are on the rise in Chengalpattu (237), Kallakurichi (102), Kancheepuram (119), Kanyakumari (131), Madurai (276), Salem (132), Theni (119), Thiruvallur (346), Thoothukudi (174), Trichy (127) and Vellore (135).
When CM Edapadi K Palanisamy was asked about this new development, he put the onus on the people, stating that without their cooperation State can’t battle Corona. Strangely, he still strongly believes that there is no community spread while 3 Ministers from the State are undergoing treatment after turning COVID19 positive. Experts worry that containing COVID19 is Southern belt will be much more difficult due to the geographic limitations and the current unlock relaxations provided.
CM EPS, on the other hand, is sceptical about another lockdown as he said that the State must also worry about people’s livelihood.
