The government had earlier suspended the services till July 15, which has now been extended as the state struggles to curb the spread of the virus. The decision applies to operators across the state of Tamil Nadu. The policy is expected to hinder public activity to a large extent and hamper mobility. Local authorities have cited the step as a necessity stating the difficulties in contact tracing if people travel across the state in curbing the virus.
