2:15Now PlayingAIIMS ethics committee gives a go-ahead for conducting human trials of the COVID-19 vaccine named ‘Covaxin’. AIIMS Delhi is one of the 12 sites selected by the ICMR to conduct Phase 1 & Phase 2 human trials. In phase one, the vaccines will be tested on 375 volunteers, out of which 100 will be from AIIMS itself.
Covaxin has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR, and NIV, Pune. According to Bharat Biotech, the first phases of clinical trials were initiated across the country from July. More than 150 vaccines are currently under development all around the world, against the novel coronavirus.
