Is Chennai's Coronavirus infection spread stabilizing? GCC Commissioner presents the actual picture

Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner says that data shows infection spread stabilising in the past 15 days.

Infection percentage has very much come down in Northern part of Chennai.

States that before the last lockdown imposed on 19th June, the infection numbers were averaging around 2000 per day and now it has come down between 1100 to 1200 as an average.

Test sample positivity was at 37% which has come down between 10% to 12%.

Claims that maximum number of testing is being done in the City.

When questioned if the 'curve has begun to flatten', GCC Commissioner has stated that there are 13 more days for the lockdown to get over post which he can say with authentic data.

Commissioner said that for now, the data appears to be on a stabilising form but said that it would be better to wait for 10 more days for safety sake.

Prakash still warned that danger still prevails and all social distancing norms should be followed.

However, situation as per the Commissioner has considerably improved in many zones at North Chennai where once the sample positive rate was at 50 to 60% which has come down to 5 to 6%

Additionally, Antibody Test which consumes less time and can get the results to identify IgG components on blood

IgG in blood shows that they have recovered and dont pose a threat to others.

Corporation is planning to include various companies in the process, provide an advisory to test their employees and those with IgG can be put into critical jobs.

The test also has a positive advantage as it shows who are infected and cured which could help the Plasma Bank effort.
