With the BBMP permitting several sealed market areas like Chickpet, JC Road, SJP Road to reopen from today, several restrictions have been put in place for these markets to operate. These include maintaining physical distance and ensuring 6 feet distance between two people, mandatory sanitizers at all shops and staggered entry of customers.
However, all norms were blatantly flouted and authorities were nowhere to be seen to enforce the lockdown. As of 28 July, Bengaluru's recovery rates stood at 23 per cent and 35 per cent, considerably lower than the national average (60%).
