The Union Health Ministry today held a briefing on the current status of COVID outbreak in the country.

The Officer on Special Duty in Health Ministry Rajesh Bhushan said that the recovery rate in India has shown a progressive trend and more than 1 million as 16 states have a better recovery rate than the national average of 64.44 percent.

The Centre said that effective clinical management has led to a decrease in the fatality rate in the country which is now at 2.21 per cent.

On the testing numbers, the Ministry said over 1.81 crore RTPCR tests have been done, over 4.5 lac tests have been done on an average in the last one week.

As the Sero survey has shown a higher infection rate, Bhushan said herd immunity in a country like can't be a strategic choice.

Health Ministry has received 131 claims for the health workers' insurance, 20 have been cleared. 64 payments will come soon in which maximum cases have come from Maharashtra, Delhi, and Telangana.
