as posted by the channelTamil Nadu government has banned public display, procession and immersion of idols on Ganesh Chathurthi for this year owing to the pandemic situation. According to Madras High Court, only individuals are allowed to immerse Ganesha idols. Pro-Hindu groups including Hindu Munnani approached Madras High Court seeking permission to hold processions and immersion of idols.
Court after hearing the plea has stated that ban on procession imposed by Tamil Nadu government will continue and the immersion of idols can be done individually in water bodies, no crowd gathering allowed and not in Marina Beach. Tamil Nadu is currently 5,800 cases on COVID-19 daily and an average of 115 people died due to the disease.
