16:52Now PlayingThe recent Hathras gangrape has sparked outrage in Delhi. There are protests being carried out by the Aam Aadmi party and the Bhim Army outside the Safdarjung hospital. The justified anger comes after the 19 year old Dalit girl succumbed to death due to injuries. UP police’s inaction is being heavily questioned by the protesters. They are also demanding an explanation as to why was the girl’s body not shown to her family members as well as the post mortem report.
The Uttar Pradesh police took more than a week to register the FIR under the section of rape. Initially, it was registered as an attempt to murder. It was also discovered that the police was wary of talking to the girl and taking her account in consideration.
The delayed investigation and action taken over admitting the girl in a better hospital in Delhi has invoked a strong response from people. The four accused have been arrested. However, the inhuman act that took place has now become common in UP, including the police’s negligence.
