2:46Now PlayingTamil Nadu’s AIADMK is at loggerheads over selecting the next CM candidate. There is a leadership battle going on between the current CM E. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam from the party.
A meeting was held yesterday and it was declared that the candidate would be selected by the 7th of October. However, there are two factions in the party that are currently opposing each other. While one of them supports Palaniswami, the other group stands for O. Panneerselvam.
The struggle of the their uncertainty has led the party to hold 3 meetings in order to decide the next candidate for 2021. The tussle for leadership has also led to Panneerselvam not attending a meeting with the district collectors that was hosted by the current CM. Most important decisions regarding the Covid-19 outbreak and the unlock in Tamil Nadu were supposed to be discussed in the meeting.
The absence comes after a heated discussion between the two factions at a AIADMK meeting that took place a day before.
