55:11Now PlayingToday On The Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, we take up the Hathras Gangrape Case and how the UP Police failed another beti once again. A 19 year old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh was gangraped by four upper caste men in Hathras District on 14 September. Today the victim succumbed to her injuries in Delhi's Safdarjung hospital. She was left in a pathetic condition with her tongue chopped off and the body paralyzed.
Her death has sparked outrage with the Bhim Army workers and Aam Aadmi Party blocking to protest in the National Capital demanding justice for the girl.
Dr. Poornima Advani, Lawyer & Former Chairperson, NCW says that in the Annual Confidential Reports of the police officers, a clause should be put in, as to how gender sensitive the officer is. Unless such fundamental changes are brought in, these systemic pathologies will continue.
